Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis created quite a frenzy with the media ahead of his team’s game against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.
The chances of Davis playing for the Bulls appeared to become a possibility when he addressed a crowd recently and seemed open to playing in Chicago next season. He later clarified those statements and made clear what his focus is at the moment.
Anthony Davis says he never said he considered going to Chicago next summer. He said he is focused on winning a championship with the Lakers, everyone is aware he’ll be a free agent and “we’ll see where it goes.”

Though anything can happen between now and next summer, Davis had to make sure that his words didn’t come out as though he was giving false hopes to his hometown of Chicago. Many players dream of coming back home to play for the city that they grew up in, and Davis certainly has the freedom to consider it when he becomes a free agent as well.
But the Bulls are currently sporting a 2-5 record with little hope of becoming playoff contenders in the near future, something that may deter Davis from going back to his hometown. On the other hand, the Lakers look set to contend for a title for the next two years at least, with superstar LeBron James contractually obligated to play with Davis for the foreseeable future.
