Renowned NBA Trainer Highlights Major Difference in How Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant Approached Workouts

While Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan are two of the fiercest players in NBA history, the two superstars had very different approaches to working out.

Renowned NBA trainer Tim Grover, who trained both players, explained how the champions differed in their workouts.

“Kobe needed to know everything,” Grover said. “He wanted to know why we did this exercise? Why this many reps? Why this? Why that? Kobe, he was always, ‘Why, why, why?’ Because he was a student. He was learning.

“Michael was just like, ‘I hired you to do a job. Just get me the end result. I don’t need to know why I’m doing this, what’s going on. But when I do ask, you better have the answer.'”

Bryant, who passed away in January, idolized Jordan just like everyone else did.

However, fans have been enlightened to a new side of the two players’ relationship since Bryant’s death. As a matter of fact, it’s been revealed that both men shared a very personal brotherhood.

During Bryant’s memorial service back in February, Jordan poignantly alluded to the guard as a little brother.

The assiduous workout routines by both players produced successful results. Jordan concluded his career with six championships while Bryant had captured five rings by the end of his tenure in the league.

While hard work is the common denominator for success, both stars proved it’s acceptable to approach workouts in distinctive ways.

Grover has trained multiple other elite athletes, including Dwyane Wade and Charles Barkley.
