LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have been making headlines recently for all the wrong reasons, and on Wednesday, he was at the the forefront of media chatter once again.
That’s because a clip was released from HBO’s “The Shop,” which showed James saying that if there were one player in the league he’d want to team up with today, it would be Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.
Curry caught wind of this, and although he showered James with praise, he also said that he was “good” as far as teaming up with the four-time MVP.
James and Curry on the same team would be a nightmare scenario for most opponents due to James’ pass-first mentality and Curry’s ability to drain a jumper from nearly anywhere in front of half court.
Although this hypothetical matchup is fun to think about, Curry is likely focused on the Warriors and what lies ahead for them in the upcoming playoffs. The Warriors are currently the third seed in the Western Conference, which means if the season were to end today, they would be facing off against the Denver Nuggets in the first round.
Conversely, James’ Lakers were officially knocked out of the playoff contention on Tuesday as they fell to the Phoenix Suns 121-110. James did not play in the matchup due to an ailing ankle.
The four-time NBA champion is averaging 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game this season.
