Stephen Curry removes Kobe Bryant, adds LeBron James to his all-time starting 5

Last year, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry picked his all-time starting five, and it featured Shaquille O’Neal, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson.

Now, his all-time starting five appears to have changed. His updated lineup is similar, but he now has himself at the point guard spot instead of Johnson, and he has LeBron James at the small forward spot instead of Bryant.

There’s always more than one right answer to exercises like this one, and he likely has a ton of respect for anyone that made either of his lists. It’s curious that some of his choices have changed since last year, but it could be the case that he simply doesn’t have a firm answer for this topic.

Of course, it’s also possible that he’s given the exercise more thought and now feels that his updated lineup is more appropriate.

In his latest all-time starting five, he has himself on the same team as James. It’s hard to ignore the fact that he and James got to be teammates during the Olympics in the time between Curry’s two answers, which might have given the sharpshooter some new perspective about how lethal they can be as a duo.

There has been some speculation about the possibility of the two players teaming up at some point in the NBA, but James seemingly doesn’t have much time left in the league, and Curry is 36 years old himself. It’s unclear if the possibility will ever turn to reality.

For now, James and Curry are focused on guiding their respective teams to successful seasons, and they’re both off to solid starts.

The Warriors are near the top of the Western Conference with a 9-2 record, and the Los Angeles Lakers are hanging in there with a 7-4 mark. The two teams haven’t played yet this season, but that will change next month when they meet on Christmas Day.

Curry and James, a pair of four-time NBA champions, are both trying to capture No. 5 before their legendary careers come to an end. They will both be included in all-time discussions long after they retire.
