New York Knicks owner James Dolan is reportedly looking to revamp his team’s front office, and it appears that he may want to emulate the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bob Myers and Rob Pelinka have become stars amongst NBA front office processionals. However, before that, they were both star NBA agents.
Before being hired as an assistant general manager for the Golden State Warriors in 2011, Myers represented players such as Brandon Roy, Kendrick Perkins and Tyreke Evans.
He only worked as an assistant GM for one year before being promoted to the general manager position for the Warriors in 2012.
Just a couple seasons later, the Warriors advanced to their first of five straight NBA Finals.
As for Pelinka, he represented stars such as Kobe Bryant, James Harden and Andre Igudodala before becoming the Lakers general manager in 2017.
Since then, he has overseen the acquisition of superstar LeBron James through free agency as well as the blockbuster trade for Anthony Davis last summer.
There’s no doubt that both Myers and Pelinka have enjoyed great success since joining the front office ranks.
Whether or not Dolan and the Knicks can hire someone to replicate that kind of success remains to be seen.
