The Los Angeles Lakers will likely look to improve their roster ahead of next month’s trade deadline.
That search could include parting ways with Kyle Kuzma, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.
“Jokes aside, here’s the real question some executives are asking about the 24-year-old forward: Will Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka eventually send him packing to upgrade the Lakers’ roster for a title run,” Amick reported. “As our Shams Charania reported Friday, teams are monitoring his situation and wondering whether he can be had before the Feb. 6 trade deadline. What’s more, sources now say the Lakers have shown a recent willingness to listen to pitches for Kuzma.”
So far this season, Kuzma is averaging 12.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
His production as of late has been more impressive, however, as he’s recorded 19 or more points in each of the Lakers’ last four games.
As the Lakers look to improve their chances of bringing a title to L.A. at the end of this season, it is possible that they part ways with the talented forward to add more veteran contributors.
That being said, if Kuzma’s production continues at its recent rate, there may be no reason for the Lakers to use him as a trade chip at all.
