Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma played just nine minutes in Tuesday night’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. The primary reason for that light usage was a scary injury that left his right eye bleeding.
While the optics of the injury were quite scary, it turns out the actual level of harm was quite low. Per an announcement from the team, Kuzma is expected to practice with the team on Thursday and will be available for Friday’s game versus the Thunder.
Kuzma’s 2019-20 season began this month as he sat out the Lakers’ first handful of games as he recovered from a leg injury he sustained over the offseason.
While Kuzma got off to a rather slow start, he quickly picked up pace and was enjoying a string of five straight double-digit scoring nights before his involvement in Tuesday night’s game was cut short.
It’s great news that the Lakers will get Kuzma back for Friday’s game. That being said, the Lakers have proven already this season that they are able to overcome absences due to injury and still secure wins.
At 12-2, the Lakers currently lay claim to the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Kuzma and company will look to hold onto that position in Friday’s game.
