Report: Lakers Offered Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma for Marcus Morris

In the final hours of the NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers made a concerted effort to acquire New York Knicks forward Marcus Morris, but their offer of Kyle Kuzma and Danny Green failed to entice the Knicks into making a deal.

“The club had been in negotiations with the Knicks for forward Marcus Morris, but the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement,” Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times wrote.

“The Lakers had been willing to offer Kyle Kuzma and Danny Green, but the Knicks didn’t like that.”

The 30-year-old Morris will be playing his home games at Staples, but unfortunately for the Lakers, they’ll be in a Los Angeles Clippers uniform.

The Knicks ultimately sent Morris to the Clippers as part of a three-team deal that also included the Washington Wizards. This season, Morris is averaging 19.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

The Lakers currently have a 38-12 record on the season and hold a tenuous 2.5-game lead over the Clippers, who enter Saturday’s action with a 36-15 mark.

Next up for the Lakers is a Saturday night road clash against the Golden State Warriors that will be broadcast nationally on ABC. The Warriors have been beset by key injuries and departures this year, leaving them with a 12-40 mark on the season.
