Despite previous reports that the Los Angeles Lakers had all but signed star free agent Kawhi Leonard, it now seems as though he may be returning to the team he won the 2019 NBA Finals with.
According to Jalen Rose, who appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Leonard is now leaning towards re-signing with the Toronto Raptors.
“What I am 99 percent hearing is that Kawhi Leonard will be returning to Toronto and signing a two-year contract,” Rose said. “Just completed his eighth season, that’s going to put him at 10 years. That puts him in position to get the largest available maximum deal for a player of his tenure.”
If this proves to be true, it would send shockwaves through the entire NBA landscape and change the power dynamic in both the Western Conference and Eastern Conference.
The truth is, the news regarding Leonard has been all over the map over the last few days. While Rose is a highly reputable source, the fight for Leonard isn’t over until the pen has been put to paper.
