Report: Ex-Lakers wing expected to leave the NBA for Lithuania

Forward Cam Reddish was a top-10 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, yet he may very well already be leaving the NBA after just six seasons in the league.

Per Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews, the former Los Angeles Lakers wing is expected to depart the best basketball league in the world and sign with a club in the European nation of Lithuania.

“Cam Reddish, the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, is expected to leave the NBA after six seasons and take his talents to Lithuania,” Urbonas wrote.

“According to BasketNews sources, the 26-year-old wing is in advanced talks to sign with BC Šiauliai, a club with a solid track record in Lithuanian basketball.”

Reddish spent the last two NBA seasons playing for the Lakers franchise, but he was far from a consistent member of the team’s rotation during his two-year stint. After all, he played just 81 regular-season games combined and averaged 4.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.0 steal per contest.

Maybe folks should have read the tea leaves from Reddish’s collegiate days more deeply, as he didn’t even score the ball efficiently against inferior competition. In his one season playing college hoops at Duke University, he shot just 35.6 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from 3-point range, and those numbers stood out as red flags.

Ultimately, Reddish’s subpar scoring efficiency in college carried over to the highest level, as for his pro career, he has converted only 39.8 percent of his shots from the floor.

Perhaps spending some time playing basketball overseas will be beneficial for his confidence as a scorer. Playing against lesser competition might help him find his scoring mojo and aid him in the long run if he seeks to play in the NBA again someday.

Reddish just recently turned 26 years old, so it doesn’t seem as if he has unquestionably played his last game in the NBA by any stretch. He wouldn’t be the first player in the pros to enjoy a career renaissance after spending some time away from the league.

Folks should expect Reddish to serve as nothing short of a dominant scorer in Lithuania, assuming he leaves the NBA to join the club. It’s unfortunate that Reddish wasn’t a more effective player during his time playing for Los Angeles in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns, but he in all likelihood has plenty of buckets in his future playing in Lithuania.
