Report: Members of Lakers Organization Urging LeBron James to Rest Until Fully Recovered

After starting the 2019-20 season with a blistering 24-3 record, the Los Angeles Lakers have suddenly hit some adversity.

They’re currently on a four-game losing streak. What’s worse, LeBron James is not 100 percent when it comes to his health.

He aggravated a sore groin in his team’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Christmas Day, and now there’s a real possibility that he’ll miss some time.

In fact, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, several members within the Lakers organization are working to convince James to rest until he is full recovered.

“Even though the Lakers are now riding a season-worst four-game losing streak, several members of the organization have already approached James about the urgency to sit out and rehab his groin injury until he feels fully recovered, sources told ESPN,” McMenamin wrote.

Already this season, James told reporters that he will not sit out games for load management despite what many expected coming into the 2019-20 season.

The Lakers’ next two games will be tough. First, they head north for a road game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday. Then, they return to L.A. for a home contest the next night against the Dallas Mavericks.

After that, the Lakers will catch a break in the schedule. Six of their first eight games in January will be at home. Beyond that, the majority of teams they are set to face to start off the new year currently hold losing records.

If there is any stretch of games that makes sense for James to miss, it might be the one that is coming up.
