Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James’ son has already begun to make a name for himself in the world of basketball.
As a freshman in high school, LeBron James Jr. has displayed a level of talent that has been compared to his legendary father’s when he was in high school.
Now, Lakers legend and former president of basketball operations Magic Johnson has chimed in, saying that he thinks the younger James could end up being a better player than his four-time MVP father.
“I think he has a chance to be unbelievable,” Johnson told TMZ. “Either just as good as his dad, or a little better. But that’s big shoes to fill, though.”
Johnson went on to declare that he thinks the elder James should currently be considered the MVP of the NBA this season. Considering that, it’s clear just how highly he regards the talented teenager.
So far, the Lakers forward has averaged 25.8 points, 10.6 assists and 7.5 rebounds per game. He’s been everything Lakers fans hoped he would be when he signed with the team as a free agent back in the 2018 offseason.
He’s has helped lead the Lakers to a record of 24-5 so far on the 2019-20 season.
As for the younger James, he’s still making a name for himself in the high school ranks.
