The first preseason game for the 2019-20 Los Angeles Lakers is in the books, and it was a successful one for the Purple and Gold.
Among all of their new players, the one who has been garnering the most spotlight is Anthony Davis. LeBron James spoke glowingly of his new co-star after the game at brand new Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif.
When Spectrum SportsNet sideline reporter Mike Trudell asked James what stood out to him most of Davis, the Akron, Ohio native was fairly effusive.
“Just his basketball intelligence,” said James. “He’s very intelligent out on the floor. He knows exactly where he wants to get on the floor. His ability to rebound and block shots as well. He’s a very efficient player.”
Davis looked pretty impressive, as he scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in just 18 minutes of playing time. He shot 9-of-16 from the field and was the recipient of several of James’ eight assists, which often led to easy layups and dunks for the former New Orleans Pelican.
James contributed a quiet 15 points as the Lakers won handily over the Golden State Warriors, 123-101.
The team will next head to China to play a pair of games against Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday and Saturday of next week.
