The NBA’s suspension could not have come at a worse time for the Los Angeles Lakers, whose team chemistry was arguably at its finest the week the suspension was announced.
Despite the hiatus, however, four-time league MVP LeBron James assured Lakers fans recently that the Lakers players are constantly communicating with one another.
“We got a text chain between all the guys on the team,” James said during an appearance on the Road Trippin’ podcast. “And we just stay in touch every day, pretty much. … To Laker Nation: The guys are staying connected. Everybody knows where everyone is. We know what’s going on.”
James also believes that only a week-long mini-camp would be needed to get the team back on track should the league resume operations at some point to continue the 2019-20 season.
The Lakers were sitting on a 49-14 record when the league decided to suspend its operations after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert was found to have contracted COVID-19, the deadly virus that has claimed the lives of many across the globe.
During the Lakers’ final weekend, they had huge wins over two of the league’s top teams, the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers.
