When the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Anthony Davis in the 2019 offseason, critics slammed the franchise as they thought it was giving up too much in the deal.
35 games into the 2019-20 season, Davis is proving that he is worth it.
LeBron James certainly seems to believe so. The four-time MVP posted to his Instagram story praising his teammate’s “monster” performance.
The Lakers’ Friday matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans marked the second time Davis faced his former team.
Just like the first meeting, he dominated the game.
The superstar recorded 46 points on an efficient 15-of-21 shooting from the field and 13-of-13 from the free-throw line. His 19 points in the third quarter helped the Lakers build a lead the Pelicans could not overcome, even after a late rally in the fourth period.
Davis also added 13 rebounds, three steals and a block, showcasing his impact on both ends of the floor.
The addition of Davis to the roster has helped turn the Lakers around following last season’s woes.
This time last year, the Lakers had a 21-18 standing and were seventh in the West. Currently, they sit atop the conference at 27-8.
