Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James just keeps on adding to his growing list of accolades.
During the win over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, James hit two statistical achievements.
James was clutch in the game against the Spurs, scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter to help the Lakers put the Spurs away. He made consecutive step-back three-point shots that widened a two-point Lakers lead to eight late in the game. That lead was never relinquished by the Lakers on the way to a 10-point win.
Those two 3-pointers also helped James leapfrog legendary sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic on the all-time 3-pointers made list. That is impressive for someone who has been derided for his supposed lack of outside shooting efficiency, especially early in his career.
James’ feat of becoming only the fifth player in NBA history to surpass 12,000 field goals made is quite spectacular as well. For much of his career, he has served as his team’s primary playmaker, averaging 7.3 assists per game. This milestone is a testament to James being one of the best all-around players to ever step on the court.
James will surely continue to rise up on those lists as the season progresses. As much as he values those achievements, his sights are still set on winning a championship with the Lakers.
