The coronavirus could not come at a worse time for Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
The four-time MVP explained how his body was gearing up for the playoffs before the NBA decided to suspend the season due to the deadly virus.
The Lakers were playing outstanding basketball in March.
As a matter of fact, the Lakers won huge games against the league-best Milwaukee Bucks and star-studded Los Angeles Clippers the weekend prior to the announcement of the suspension.
Furthermore, James was in the middle of one of the best seasons of his professional career.
The 17-year veteran is averaging 25.7 points, 10.6 assists and 7.9 boards per game this season. In addition, his stellar play has led the Lakers to the top record in the Western Conference.
While the hiatus won’t affect the lottery-bound teams as much, it’s unfortunate for the contenders in the association. Teams and players with championship aspirations were getting in playoff shape and rhythm.
Although the suspension was initially set for 30 days, it is expected to be stretched due to the concerns and measures posed by health professionals.
