LeBron James clowns college basketball coach who dissed him and his son Bronny

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James threw some shade at college basketball coach Doug Gottlieb on Monday, highlighting the fact that Gottlieb’s squad has had a brutal season.

Gottlieb doubles as a media personality and head basketball coach. He’s currently in his first season coaching the men’s team at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay.

In his media work, he has had a lot to say about James and his son Bronny, which may be why the Lakers star found some time to jab at him on Monday.

It’s worth noting that since the original post was made from the “College Basketball Report” account on X, Green Bay actually picked up a win to snap its losing streak and move to 3-24 on the season.

Gottlieb has spoken on the father-son James duo many times. After the elder James and younger James briefly shared the floor in L.A.’s season opener back in October, Gottlieb said the Lakers “treated Bronny like he’s a Make-A-Wish kid.”

In another instance, he said that while the elder James is a good father, he’s a “bad basketball parent because he’s making people elevate his kid to a level that his skill is not close to being at.” Gottlieb made that claim in light of reporting that the younger James would only be playing in G League home games. He’s since played multiple road games in the G League.

Back in July, Gottlieb was also asked whether or not the younger James would start if he were on his Green Bay team. He offered a murky answer.

Green Bay has four regular-season games remaining as the team looks to salvage part of its campaign. It has clearly been a rough first season for Gottlieb at the helm. If he returns next season, he’ll hope for drastically different results.

As for the James duo, the Lakers are in contention in the Western Conference this season at 32-20. Before the trade deadline, the squad agreed to a stunning trade to acquire star Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. It’s still a little bit of a mystery how L.A.’s title chances will look following the trade.

The younger James, for his part, is seemingly making progress in the G League and at the NBA level as he looks to prove that he has what it takes to be a pro.
