LeBron James Celebrates Carmelo Anthony Signing With Portland Trail Blazers

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James was excited to hear that Carmelo Anthony was finally going to play for an NBA team this season.

On Thursday, Anthony agreed to a non-guaranteed deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

James reacted to the report about Anthony and also retweeted the reaction of close friend and former NBA star Dwyane Wade.

James, Wade and Anthony are part of small circle of close friends, which also includes Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Chris Paul.

With Anthony in Portland, he will square off against James and Paul several times this season.

Prior to signing with the Blazers, it had been a long journey back to the NBA for Anthony. While he has been named to 10 All-Star Games in his career, he has struggled to live up to that status recently.

Last year, after signing with the Houston Rockets, Anthony and team management mutually agreed to part ways after the veteran forward played in only 10 games. He never played again for the Rockets and was traded to the Chicago Bulls in January.

The Bulls waived Anthony not long after and left his future in the league in doubt.

With Anthony in a Blazers uniform, it gives Portland a former big-time scorer to take some of the burden off of star guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum.
