Los Angeles Lakers guard Avery Bradley will remain off the court through the team’s upcoming four-game road trip, as he continues to rehabilitate a hairline fracture of his right leg that was injured on Nov. 3.
Bradley, who signed with the Lakers during the offseason, suffered the injury after a collision with Dejounte Murray of the San Antonio Spurs. He’s scheduled to be re-evaluated on Nov. 29 to assess his recovery.
The discovery of the hairline fracture came after Bradley underwent an MRI, with the Lakers announcing the news last Friday. Prior to the news, Bradley had only missed the Lakers’ Nov. 5 game in Chicago before then playing in the next four contests. He’s since missed the team’s past three games.
In Bradley’s 10 games with the Lakers this season, the 10-year veteran’s statistical numbers have been modest, averaging 9.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. However, his defensive abilities have helped the Lakers rise to second in the NBA in fewest points allowed at 101.1 per game.
That understated role for Bradley has helped the Lakers get off to a strong start, with the team winning eight of the 10 games that the veteran has played in for the season. As a team, they hold a league-best 12-2 mark.
If Bradley is given the go-ahead to play after the Nov. 29 check, he could see action in the Lakers’ two games that weekend. They host the Washington Wizards that night, followed by a Dec. 1 afternoon clash against the Dallas Mavericks.
