The Los Angeles Lakers will be without superstar big man Anthony Davis in Wednesday night’s game versus the Orlando Magic.
Davis is still recovering from a bone bruise he suffered when he took a nasty spill in a game versus the New York Knicks earlier this month.
The Lakers won that game versus the Knicks easily, 117-87.
Since then, they’ve continued their dominance over the league, winning their three most recent games by an average of 19.6 points.
That fact is somewhat shocking considering the fact that Davis is the Lakers’ leading scorer so far this season.
In 35 games this season, Davis is averaging 27.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.6 blocks and 1.5 steals per game.
Not only is he an MVP candidate, he’s widely considered to be a Defensive Player of the Year frontrunner.
One of the main reasons for the Lakers’ success during Davis’ absence has been forward Kyle Kuzma. While Kuzma has struggled to find a rhythm though much of this season, he has found his groove in Davis’ stead.
He’s averaging 24.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game over the last three contests.
Hopefully, Kuzma will be able to continue that strong production when Davis does eventually return to the court.
