In Tuesday night’s game versus the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis hit the floor hard.
After writhing in pain for a few moments, the superstar was quickly helped off the court and ushered into the team’s locker room.
The injury was diagnosed as a sacrum injury, and additional testing on Wednesday morning helped predict how long Davis might be out for.
This is just about the best-case scenario for Davis and the Lakers. Him traveling with the team likely means that there is a belief within the organization he could return after just a one-game absence.
Already this season, the Lakers have dealt with a number of injuries. Luckily, both Davis and fellow star LeBron James have been able to suit up for the vast majority of games.
So far, Davis has missed just two games this season. James has only missed one.
If Davis sits out for the entire upcoming two-game road trip, he’ll miss games against the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
After that, his next opportunity to play will come in a home game versus James’ former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
