Los Angles Lakers star LeBron James has been dealing with a groin injury as of late, but that reportedly won’t keep him from suiting up for Saturday’s game versus the Portland Trail Blazers.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, James is currently on track to play.
“Good news for the Lakers: LeBron James (groin) will travel with the team to Portland and is on track to play on Saturday against the Trail Blazers, league sources say,” Charania wrote. “James is said to be feeling fine enough to play after receiving treatment on Thursday. He re-aggravated his groin injury in the Lakers’ Christmas Day loss to the Clippers.”
James missed a game last week versus the Denver Nuggets due to multiple lingering injuries.
The groin issue then flared up in Wednesday’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers when Clippers guard Patrick Beverley collided with James under the basket.
Earlier this week, it was reported that members within the Lakers organization were trying to convince James so sit out until fully healthy. It appears that he’s going to need quite a bit more convincing before the four-time MVP actually considers doing so.
So far this season, James is averaging 25.7 points, 10.6 assists and 7.6 rebounds per game.
The Lakers will look to break their current four-game losing streak on Saturday. That streak marks their longest of the 2019-20 season.
