The Los Angeles Lakers’ strong season is not only evident in the NBA standings, but also in jersey sales, with Lakers forward LeBron James leading all players in that category for the 2019-20 season.
James and new addition Anthony Davis are the only Lakers among the top 15 players listed, with Davis in the eighth spot. When it comes to total team jerseys sold, the Lakers are currently situated at the top, directly ahead of the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.
In James’ first season with the Lakers last season, he endured an injury-plagued campaign that limited him to a career-low 55 games. Prior to the start of his 17th NBA season, questions about James’ talents possibly being on the decline were raised.
Such conjecture has since been tossed aside as James and Davis have led the team to the best record in the Western Conference over the first half of the season at 33-8.
James is clicking on all cylinders, much as he has throughout his legendary career. He’s currently averaging 25.4 points, a league-best 10.9 assists, 7.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
Being atop such lists explains why James has lucrative endorsement deals in addition to his current contract with the Lakers. His past stops with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat also saw his jerseys sold at a frantic pace.
While James is likely enjoying some vindication over his critics with this news, he’s likely more focused on the Lakers’ next contest. That will take place on Saturday night in Houston.
