The stress fracture suffered by Kyle Kuzma in August has prevented him from taking part in the Los Angeles Lakers’ training camp. Judging from a social media post on Monday, Kuzma is eager to complete the rehabilitation on his left foot and get back on the court.
Kuzma suffered the injury in the midst of trying out for the Team USA team that competed in the FIBA World Cup. He left the team while it was playing a game in Australia that preceded the start of the tournament.
At the time of that abrupt departure, the information offered was that Kuzma was dealing with an ankle injury, though eventually, the full extent of the injury was provided. Even when training camp began, Lakers management appeared to be unconcerned about his injury.
The Lakers are presumably taking extra precautions in making sure that Kuzma’s injury is completely healed. That’s due to the team having gone through a string of injuries last season, a likely season-ending ACL injury to DeMarcus Cousins in August and the current thumb injury to Anthony Davis.
Kuzma’s first two seasons have delivered solid statistics to the Lakers with averages of 17.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
