The injury bug has bitten the Los Angeles Lakers yet again this offseason.
According to a Thursday report, Kyle Kuzma is out indefinitely due to a stress fracture in his left foot.
The team confirmed that the injury took place when Kuzma was playing with Team USA. Kuzma went down with what was initially deemed an ankle injury in an exhibition game prior to the tournament.
With Kuzma missing the entire 2019 FIBA World Cup, Team USA sputtered to a disappointing seventh-place finish.
As for the Lakers, they are expecting big things out of Kuzma this season.
The lone member of the Lakers’ talented young core still on the roster following the blockbuster trade for Anthony Davis, fans are hoping that Kuzma can be the final member of a three-headed monster made up of himself, Davis, and LeBron James.
While it is never good for a young player to go down with injury during the offseason, it seems as though Kuzma will indeed suit up in the 2019-20 season. For the moment, it’s just not entirely clear when.
