Kendrick Perkins and LeBron James were teammates for just two seasons, but the former big man has shown that he has the Los Angeles Lakers superstar’s back.
The retired center and current ESPN analyst went on social media to rant about how James’ critics have stayed silent after the Lakers rival Los Angeles Clippers and superstar Kawhi Leonard recently bolstered their roster via trade and free agency.
In the past, James had been on the receiving end of criticisms for getting players to join his teams. As Perkins pointed out, it was the Clippers who recently made the same type of moves.
At the trade deadline, the Clippers acquired forward Marcus Morris from the New York Knicks via a three-team trade with the Washington Wizards. The Clippers also signed Reggie Jackson earlier this week after the point guard agreed to a buyout with the Detroit Pistons.
Interestingly, the Lakers had reportedly targeted both players. They failed to acquire Morris after the Knicks rejected their trade offer that consisted of Kyle Kuzma and Danny Green.
Jackson, on the other hand, was a possible buyout target.
