Amidst newfound pessimism that the 2019-20 NBA season may not ever resume, Los Angeles Lakers veteran Jared Dudley gave his own opinion on the league looking to make such a drastic decision.
Ever since the season was suspended on March 11 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, commissioner Adam Silver has been laying out scenarios on how to continue the season.
But ESPN reported on Friday that the league is more pessimistic than ever about its ability to resume the campaign. Brian Windhorst reported that the NBA is currently in talks about how to cancel the season, especially when it comes to financial considerations.
Another factor seems to be the fact that the Chinese Basketball Association was to resume play early this month, only to delay the resumption of its games.
Of course, as of this writing, no one has any idea when, or even if, the pandemic will subside enough in the United States to allow the NBA to even consider a resumption.
Prior to the suspension of games, Dudley had established himself as an elder statesman for the Lakers.
Although his playing time had been sporadic, he had been a positive influence on the bench and in the locker room.
