The Los Angeles Lakers have a roster that is filled with talent and veteran experience.
Typically, it is those kinds of rosters that end up winning NBA championships.
While Lakers veteran Jared Dudley is certainly confident that his team can do just that this season, he recently named one former Lakers player that he would want to add to this year’s squad if he could.
The player was none other than Robert Horry.
“When you said a role player, I’m thinking Big Shot Bob (Horry) naturally just because of the time shot making,” Dudley said on a Lakers Nation podcast recently. “I can put AD (Anthony Davis) at the five, Robert Horry can guard, he can switch, he can hit big shots, he doesn’t take the ball of LeBron [James] or AD, he’s a good role player.”
Dudley added that he would also be happy to add former Lakers Derek Fisher and Ron Artest.
“I would have said Fisher,” he said of the former Lakers guard. “I’m trying to think about that because Fisher can be another one at times when he’s a combo guard in the sense of like they had with Kobe [Bryant]. I would know better than anyone with the way they beat us in the Western Conference Finals. He just hit timely shots.”
When it comes to championship pedigree, it doesn’t get much better than Horry. In his storied NBA career, the 6-foot-9 forward won a jaw-dropping seven total titles. Three of those titles came during his time in Los Angeles.
Surely, his experience on the NBA’s biggest stage, as well as his propensity to hit big shots in massive moments would’ve helped this year’s Lakers squad win its 17th NBA title.
