The Los Angeles Lakers lost their season opener to the L.A. Clippers on Tuesday night, 112-102, and just after the final horn, NBA veteran Jamal Crawford gave his take on what took place at Staples Center.
This could be interpreted by some as Crawford looking to get a spot on the Lakers roster.
The Lakers may have one of the strongest rosters in pro basketball, but their backcourt may be a bit lacking compared to that of other contenders, especially that of the Clippers.
Crawford, who has played 19 seasons in the NBA, has career averages of 14.6 points and 3.4 assists in 29.4 minutes per game. He’s also been an outstanding free-throw shooter with a lifetime accuracy of 86.2 percent from the foul line.
He’s played for eight different NBA teams during that time, including the Clippers during their “Lob City” era.
Crawford has never been an efficient shooter, but at 6-foot-5, he could give the Lakers a big guard with experience who could break down defenses and generate points.
As of now, he’s not on any team’s roster.
