Jackie MacMullan on Andre Iguodala: ‘He’s Going to the Lakers; 4 Different Players Tell Me That’

There have been a lot of reports linking veteran Andre Iguodala to the Los Angeles Lakers, and on Thursday, those rumors intensified quite a bit.

That’s thanks to veteran NBA reporter and insider Jack MacMullan, who joined the “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective” podcast, insisting that Iguodala will end up in L.A.

“He’s going to the Lakers,” MacMullan began. “I’ve had four different players tell me that. Every player I talk to tells me that.”

Right now, Iguodala is a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, though it seems he has no intention of staying in Memphis long term. Instead, the two most likely outcomes are that Iguodala will either be traded or agree to a contract buyout with his current team.

If the three-time NBA champ does end up on the Lakers, it would likely be as a free agent.

Not only would the former All-Star bring some veteran experience and championship pedigree to the Lakers, he would also serve as a great wing coming off the bench.

Iguodala has seen his production fall in recent seasons, but he still managed to average 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game last season with the Golden State Warriors.

It’s unclear at the moment what the timeline on this seemingly inevitable union is, but as few trade options for the veteran have come into play thus far, it is getting increasingly likely that the Grizzlies will ultimately agree to buy Iguodala out.

With the Lakers still clearly having some growing pains to work out, it will be interesting to see how the potential addition of Iguodala could impact the Lakers’ success.
