Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo released a statement after someone hacked his Twitter account and posted several offensive messages on Thursday.
Some of the most inappropriate messages published on his account were directed at Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
Shortly after the hacking took place, and his account tweeted out the offensive messages, the account was locked.
Later, Antetokounmpo’s brother Kostas, who plays for the Lakers, took to Twitter to defend his older brother and assure his fans that the messages were not coming from him.
While the messages were surely disturbing, it is likely that few fans were worried that they were in fact from the elder Antetokounmpo.
Since entering the league and rising to superstardom, the Greek national has been a wholly positive force for his team, the Milwaukee Bucks, as well as the NBA as a whole.
With that being said, surely there were a few people who thought that the elder Antetokounmpo was cracking under the pressure of self-isolation due to novel coronavirus.
Either way, it is great news that he is back in control of his Twitter account, and the hateful comments that were published on it are a thing of the past.
