As Dwight Howard was on his way to the locker room after a win on Monday, a fan surprised the Los Angeles Lakers big man by grabbing a towel around his neck.
The 6-foot-10 center, who is usually a lighthearted individual, turned toward the fan and stared her down in response, but continued on his path unwilling to confront her for her behavior.
The league has toughened its code of conduct for fans in NBA arenas this season. Those who sit closest to the players have been alerted that bad behavior could lead to an ejection or worse.
The aforementioned Lakers fan’s playful act may not be as alarming as some of the other fans’ behavioral issues around the league this year, but it could still result in some form of punishment if the league catches wind.
The woman snatched Howard’s towel soon after the Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns in a blowout, 125-100. Howard had a big game, registering 14 points and 15 rebounds in only 25 minutes of playing time.
The Lakers won their 40th game of the season, a notable achievement since it is the first time they have reached that mark before the All-Star break since 2010.
