Los Angeles Lakers guard Dion Waiters debunked a popular notion on Monday.
In a piece for the The Players’ Tribune, Waiters revealed that NBA players read all the comments on their social media posts.
“Everybody in the NBA gonna tell you, ‘I don’t look at the comments,'” Waiters said. “‘F— them haters. It don’t affect me.’ They lying, though. Period.”
Waiters, 28, is one of the most outspoken players in the NBA. Sometimes, his unfiltered voice is to his detriment.
As a matter of fact, the guard was suspended multiple times by the Miami Heat earlier this season. One of the consequences derived from him defaming head coach Erik Spoelstra.
While NBA players have millions of followers on their social media accounts, Waiters claims they still sift through comments on their posts.
Perhaps the most notable piece of evidence for this matter came when Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant was caught using a burner account to defend himself on Twitter.
On the other hand, Waiters has no problem speaking his mind and sharing his NBA thoughts openly.
During a recent Instagram Live session, the journeyman infamously left Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan off his top five players list.
