On Monday, the basketball world came together to remember Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna.
As part of that ceremony, WNBA great Diana Taurasi spoke about what the young Bryant meant to the future of women’s basketball.
In her eulogy, Taurasi couldn’t help but jokingly diss Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.
Of course, Taurasi’s message was simply meant to lighten the mood in what was an understandably somber affair.
As for James, he has been one of the most outspoken voices since the tragic helicopter accident that claimed the life of two members of the Bryant family.
In the Lakers’ first game after the crash last month, James and the rest of his teammates could be seen openly expressing their sorrow over the tragedy.
Since then, James has posted numerous message on social media honoring the elder Bryant and his daughter.
Now, with nearly a month passed since the tragic loss, it is clear that the basketball world is still far from fully healing. In fact, it is likely that the NBA will never manage to fill the void that the elder Bryant’s loss has left.
Surely, James and his teammates will look to win a championship this season to honor the Bryant family. While that wouldn’t bring the elder Bryant back, it would serve as the perfect way to honor his dedicated to winning and greatness.
