The Los Angeles Lakers are a franchise filled with some of the NBA’s biggest legends and most dominant stars.
Because of that legacy, it can be quite difficult to build an all-time starting five made out of the most dominant ballers to ever don the purple and gold.
Despite the difficulty of that task, current Lakers players Danny Green and Dwight Howard compiled their personal starting units when they spoke with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report.
“Okay,” Howard said before taking a deep breath. “Point guard: Magic Johnson, 2-guard: Kobe Brant. 3, I gotta go with LeBron [James]. 4, Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal), and 5 is Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar].”
It was then Green’s chance to build his all-time unit.
“I’m going to go with Magic at 1,” he began. “Kobe at 2, Bron at 3, A.D. (Anthony Davis) at 4 and a lot of people are not going to like this, I’m going to go Big Game James (James Worthy) at 5.”
There’s no doubt that both units would be incredibly formidable.
As for this season’s Lakers team, it was considered a championship favorite prior to the suspension of league play due to fears related to the novel coronavirus.
Hopefully, the season eventually starts back up so that this year’s Lakers squad can see if it belongs amongst the other great Lakers teams by winning an NBA title.
