The Los Angeles Lakers have been home to some of the greatest NBA players ever.
As a result, many current players around the league have personal all-time starting lineups that feature multiple Lakers stars.
The latest all-time lineup that fits that description is from Minnesota Timberwolves star D’Angelo Russell.
“M.J. (Michael Jordan), Kob (Kobe Bryant), Steph (Stephen Curry), ‘Bron (LeBron James). It’s hard to put Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal) and not K.D. (Kevin Durant) though bruh, I’m telling you,” he said. “It’s hard to put Shaq and not K.D., but you just watch dudes dominate the game at that level. It’s crazy. It’s hard. It’s those two right there.”
While Russell’s starting five technically includes six players, it still says a lot that half the lineup is made up of current or former Lakers stars.
Bryant and O’Neal of course dominated for many years side by side, winning three NBA championships together for the Lakers.
As for James, he’s currently in his second year on the Lakers and seemed well on his way to winning a title prior to the stoppage of play last month.
If the NBA is able to carry out its current season and crown a champion, there’s a good chance it will be James holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy by season’s end.
There’s no doubt that a number of Lakers players have managed to change the game throughout the history of the league.
While many greats have donned the Purple and Gold, it seems as though Bryant, O’Neal and James stand above the rest when it comes to opinions of the up-and-coming stars currently in the NBA.
