Anthony Davis recently vouched for Jamal Crawford to possibly take the Los Angeles Lakers’ final roster spot this season.
On Twitter, Crawford showed appreciation for Davis’ endorsement by retweeting and commenting on a recent interview with the Lakers star.
“We look good right now, starting to get guys back,” Davis told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson. “We got Kuz (Kyle Kuzma) back. Going to get [Rajon] Rondo back soon. So it just depends what we need at that point in time when guys become available or if we’re looking for another guy. If it comes to the point where we need a playmaker, then we’re probably going to get a playmaker. If we need another scorer, then we grab another scorer.”
The six-time All-Star was then asked what he thought of Crawford and what he likes about the veteran guard.
“Instant scorer,” Davis replied. “If we’re looking for a scorer, he’s definitely on that list. He can score at will. He knows the game, very crafty with the ball, so if we’re looking for a scorer then he’s definitely a guy I can see us going after.”
A three-time Sixth Man of the Year awardee, Crawford is versatile enough to back up the Lakers’ point guards and shooting guards. His 19 years of experience in the league should come in handy, especially when the postseason rolls around.
Crawford could be a key contributor to the Lakers’ championship push, whether as an instant scoring option off the bench, another playmaker on the floor, or as a valuable sage in the locker room.
If Davis had his way, perhaps Crawford would be wearing purple and gold soon.
